Better send in someone who has finished this game then, they surely know how to kick butt. This game is a great example of a 2D ish shooter. The controls are tight; the story is pretty good and even though not fleshed out it left me wanting more. The enemies are diverse and can be tricky to overcome if on the harder difficulties. There are also enough challenges to keep you coming back for more and possibly enough to play through a few times just to complete everything. One of the many positive notes that really stands out is the soundtrack which is pretty awesome. The weapons are fun to use although with the limited in-game economy their upgrade options are a little stunted, still nice to have though.I would recommend this game for anyone who has a few hours to kill and wants to spend them blowing away robots. If it\u2019s on sale it is a 100% must buy.Have fun ^_^. It was not the game of the year, but it is pretty entertaining. Music is good, difficulty is very well balanced, and it has some very cool features. Is was a bit short though, but highly replayable.. It's very much Mega Man but doesn't quite live up to the highs of that series. Still if you're looking for a game in that vein you can do much, much worse.. Some people would consider this a MegaMan clone. It seems any platformer with a gun is considered a MegaMan clone. A.R.E.S. stands on its own very well though. With each enemy kill, you can "recycle" parts from the enemy and use them to heal yourself or upgrade your weapons. Of course, they do reference their own closeness to MegaMan by having a walkway before the bosses similar to the famous boss hall in all of the MegaMan games. The 2.5D graphics are great, the controls are fun, the design is great and the story intrigues me. If you like MegaMan or any other gun driven platformer, definitely pick this up. It is well worth the price point.. A.R.E.S.... A great classic side scroller game brought back to life with new refined graphics and gameplay!!!. A.R.E.S. is one of those games you can only recommend to a certain few. There isn't anything particularly special about A.R.E.S. and although it attempts to be a solid platformer, it falls short through a frustrating "crafting\/shop" system. The majority of items in the game require nearly all three of the specific currencies to construct and unfortunately, one of those currencies is in very short supply throughout the game. After three full playthroughs, the needed currency is always scarce. So farm if you must, though like any hardcore platformer fan, you'll persevere without the upgrades -- even if it kills you.The game itself is rather short and each successive playthrough becomes shorter because you can keep your unlocked items. My final run through of the game was a little over 40 mins. The cutscenes are decently created in a typical "fanime" style. The story tries to be more than it is and is mostly ignored except in between chapters. There are only 5 chapters with none of the stage environments or enemies revealing anything about the world A.R.E.S. is set in.I had hoped A.R.E.S. would've been more than what I played and because there is really nothing memorable about the game, I can only recommend this to those that play for the learning experience of game development.. A valiant attempt by the developer, I guess, but this game just did not do anything for me. Weak story, mediocre game-play, and something about the jump physics made platforming very frustrating. If you already have it as part of a bundle (which is how I got it), then check it out and see for yourself.Otherwise, I see no real reason to get it on its own.. I'll recommend this if you're a fan of the genre. This may seem like a dumb advice, but here's my point :You may really like it if you're a fan of the 2D sidescroller game, otherwise not so much. Why ? becausethis game, though a very good platformer, doesn't appeal to the regular gamer. It does write a longlove-letter to old 2D platformer (and a very nice one, might I add), but won't be a general gamingexperience you shouldn't miss.
